Job Description

About the Role This opening is for the role of Technology Research Manager with a focus on emerging technology (especially blockchain). This role will support the global needs of Accentures developing blockchain and multiparty systems business as well as other emerging areas such as augmented/virtual reality, quantum, and robotics. This position sits within our global Technology research team which is a team of about 15 researchers based in 6 countries. The successful candidate will work closely with the Global Blockchain Research Lead and the Technology Incubation Group Research Team Lead, to help define and establish the strategy and priorities for the global blockchain and technology incubation group research agenda. He/she will support thought leadership projects, client projects, primary research activity and business or market development. While it is assumed the researcher will focus on his or her area of expertise, there will be occasions in which he/she will work on projects outside this core area that could require other capabilities, such as those aligning to traditional technology research areas. + An understanding of or strong desire to learn and focus on the enterprise opportunity for blockchain technology

The successful candidate will direct the scoping, delivery and quality of individual research projects, personally conducting research as required. The role combines an understanding of content sources, primary and secondary research techniques, and subject matter with knowledge of Accenture and the marketplace to ensure the teams delivery of high value research results (i.e., highly synthesized, packaged findings derived from existing information and data sources). A proven track record of published content and/or projects in the emerging tech space (especially Blockchain) would be a definite advantage

This role is based in United States and will report to a senior research lead.

Core Skills We are looking for someone who has the following core skill sets:

Issue-based problem solving and structured communication skills: We want researchers who can identify key issues and, in a logical, structured manner, use these issues to drive their efforts. We also expect individuals to draw out the implications of the research they conduct and tell a compelling, business-focused story about the data that is relevant to Accentures business and clients. We are looking for insights, not just information.

Research skills: We expect researchers to be able to take an issue and turn it into a researchable question, adeptly scope the research effort, and expertly use most (but not necessarily all) research techniques such as secondary database searching, company analysis, market analysis, strategic analysis frameworks, interview-based research and financial analysis. Researchers must also be detail-oriented and follow quality assurance procedures.

Business acumen: Individuals must possess a fundamental understanding of micro and macroeconomic drivers that influence industry opportunities and ability to use strategic frameworks (e.g., Porters five forces, 4 Ps, 3 Cs) to analyze market conditions, competitive landscape and individual company performance.

Subject Matter Expertise: Comprehensive business research and thought leadership skills and is able to investigate and appreciate a constantly changing Information Technology (IT) Services and Software Industry landscape. Good understanding of IT Services and Software industry with strong research background. It is preferable that the individual has knowledge of two or more core segments of the industry and a strong interest in others, for example: IT Application Services, Cloud and Infrastructure services, SaaS Platform services, Cyber and Application Security, Emerging technologies (AI, XR/VR, IOT/Edge, Blockchain, quantum, etc), etc

External Relationships: Awareness of external Subject Matter Experts, information providers/brokers/sources is required, and membership in a professional society would be a plus.

Basic Qualifications:

+ A bachelor degree, preferably in economics, business, finance, engineering, computer science or other related areas. A post-graduate degree/qualification is preferred but not essential

+ Minimum of 7 years business research experience, preferably in a consulting environment, equity brokerage, third party research organization, or line position at a technology firm

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Solid experience in secondary/business research, information retrieval methods, insight generation and thought leadership

+ Solid experience in packaging, synthesizing and presenting research deliverables

+ Technical, and analytical expertise

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel; PowerPoint, Power BI, i.e., charting)

+ Strong PowerPoint, Excel, Power BI, and Word skills; knowledge of visualization tools is a plus

+ Understanding of the enterprise blockchain landscape and relevant opportunities for Accenture clients

+ Experience with developing IT business cases, strategic assessments, published written materials, or primary research endeavors would be of significant benefit

+ Understanding of global business and technology issues at large

+ Awareness in specific emerging technology areas, with a preference to blockchain

+ Working experience in a team of research professionals, using research tools and methodologies

+ Authored external publications in IT Services/technology topics

Professional Skills:

+ Critical thinking skills (ability to quickly grasp complex and unfamiliar subjects, willingness and desire to challenge the teams current thinking and help take it to the next level)

+ Familiarity with market sizing, competitive analysis/intelligence and trend analysis

+ Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize/delegate appropriately and effectively

+ Ability to synthesize and deliver outputs on time, to spec, and with original insights

+ Demonstrated ability to synthesize fragmented information from multiple sources into a coherent summary, and to develop structured communications

+ Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills

+ Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required; additional language skills are also valued

+ Intellectual curiosity and knowledge around the technology landscape and emerging technology trends, including enterprise blockchain opportunities

+ Comfort working with senior executives to shape research-driven strategies, thought leadership, and assets/tools

+ Very strong writing skills, preferably with professional experience delivering written briefs, points of view, strategy documents, or similar writing

+ Strong whitespace and storytelling ability through multiple mediums, with heavy focus on writing thought leadership and developing compelling, insight-driven Powerpoint presentations

+ Demonstrated leadership in professional setting; either military or civilian

+ Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration in a professional setting; either military or civilian
