Data Privacy is part of our CORE (Compliance, Operations, Regulatory and Ethics) group in Legal. Our professionals work closely with other Legal teams, corporate and business functions to ensure we do business in a responsible and compliant way, and help bring our values to life, every day, with a focus on building and maintaining trust of our people, clients, suppliers and partners. We identify and manage legal, business and commercial risks and provide high quality guidance and advice to our organization.

Key Responsibilities

As Associate Director, Data Privacy, you lead a functional group (tower) of Accentures global Data Privacy program, reporting to and in close cooperation with our Senior Director, Data, AI & Privacy Compliance. The program oversees data privacy compliance & ethics as well as voluntary commitments made in the field of privacy, with a strong focus on bringing Accentures values and culture to life.

This senior role will have responsibilities to design and oversee major strategic initiatives (such as implementation of new laws, response to significant regulatory changes such as new EU standard contractual clauses) as well as lead our regular risk assessments regarding the program in general and HIPAA compliance in the US. The role will also lead our data privacy support of our significant, fast paced Ventures & Acquisitions activities. It is a full-time role that will be filled by an experienced senior professional able to demonstrate strong expertise and interest in the areas of privacy, digital, technology, governance and compliance.

The Director, Data & AI Compliance is expected to demonstrate leadership behaviors, which include adhering to Accentures Core Values. The successful candidate is also expected to promote and practice all aspects of Accentures leadership DNA.

Your (and your teams) key responsibilities will be to

+ Design, build and execute projects to ensure our Data Privacy program stays robust and up to date globally, reflecting leading industry practice;

+ Execute and enhance, where needed, our risk assessment approach, which comprises regular independent reviews of our program by outside counsel, implementation of updates, targeted deep assessments of select topics, and a comprehensive program of HIPAA risk assessments;

+ Develop, maintain and enhance our processes to identify privacy issues in our Ventures and Acquisitions activities, both in the due diligence and post merger integration phases;

+ Maintain and enhance privacy controls in close cooperation with the Information Security team;

+ Develop and provide training and communication in the aforementioned areas.

+ Keep abreast of technology trends and developments and their impact, and develop guidance, training and thought leadership for internal audiences;

+ Build and maintain strong and trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, in particular with legal and business teams, and interaction with clients and V&A targets, as needed;

+ Effectively work with a team of legal professionals and business teams in remote locations, providing advice and guidance in an engaged, business focused and pragmatic manner.

Work Requirements:

+ Travel required as needed (likely <5%);

+ Must have ability to effectively work with others remotely, manage a schedule with global stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

+ JD or equivalent law degree (based on geography);

+ Minimum 8 years of experience in a (ideally global) compliance and ethics/governance function, preferably in a major law firm and/or multinational corporation;

+ Minimum 5 years team leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ CIPP or other privacy certification recommended

+ Relevant privacy certifications considered a plus;

+ Deep knowledge of data privacy, data management principles, strategies and frameworks;

+ Knowledge of and experience in monitoring legal and regulatory trends and developments and translating those into actionable requirements;

+ Strong project management and organizational skills would be considered a plus;

+ Demonstrated command of data privacy and related policy, laws and regulations globally, in particular the US and EU;

+ Long term accountability for compliance program at multinational organization, ideally in the technology space;

+ Proven ability to develop vision, operationalize and implement strategy;

+ Demonstrated ability to identify, understand and assess trends and developments in data privacy, and to explain issues in a practical, results-focused manner;

+ Ability to build a network of professional relationships with experts and regulators, and to represent Accenture externally as needed;

+ Ability to synthesize complex legal analysis into clear and consistent recommendations;

+ Ability to prioritize and make decisions, and possess a high level of common sense, including the ability to see around the corner and spot risks before they materialize;

+ Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface, and develop relationships, with all levels of management and staff, and work cross-culturally.

As required by Colorado law under the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, Accenture provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado only, the range of starting pay for this role is $204,660 - $367,000 and information on benefits offered is here.
