Cyber Threat Intelligence Specialist - Resources

This is a role to join the iDefense Reconnaissance team as a cyber threat intelligence specialist.




The team is responsible for the collection and analysis of intelligence on criminal forums, persona development, virtual HUMINT, OSINT and threat assessment deliverables. The team covers a variety of threats including cybercrime, cyber espionage and hacktivism which lead to the development of strategic, operational and tactical reports to help protect Accentures customers.





As a threat intelligence specialist your primary role is to undertake research on threat groups and campaigns with a strong emphasis on cybercrime targeting the resources vertical. You will act as a subject matter expert for the team, developing collection efforts and virtual HUMINT capabilities on both Deep WebDarknet forums and communities. You will also be responsible for supporting iDefense in threat assessment engagements, such as CBESTCRESTSTARTIBER. You will additionally be comfortable support business development opportunities and acting in a client facing environment on a regular basis.





+ 5 years experience in a threat intelligence role


+ Expert understanding of cybercrime threat landscape, TTPs, threat actors and groups


+ Excellent analytic and writing capabilities


+ Previous professional experience working within the Resources sectorFamiliarity with threats in industrial control systems ICS


+ High familiarity with underground criminal communities


+ Proven capabilities within open source intelligence OSINT and virtual human intelligence HUMINT


+ Strong understanding of the intelligence cycle and industry models such as including models such as Kill Chain and Mitre ATTCK framework.


+ Experience in threat actor and threat group profilingProficiency in supporting business development opportunities in Cyber DefenseExcellent written and oral English language

+ + *Degree in intelligence, international security, war studies, information technology, cyber security computer science a plus


+ An established presence in the threat intelligence community


+ Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlinesInitiative to develop sources and drive improvements in the Reconnaissance teams capabilities


+ Ability to work remotelyT

+ Confidence when presenting complex subject matter*


+ Author operational and strategic intelligence products to meet intelligence collection requirements Identify and develop collection grid for English and Russian language criminal communities on the Deep WebDark NetClearnet, with particular focus on threats to Resources


+ Contribute to client deliverables e.g. RFIs, CBEST, TIBER threat assessmentsSupport business development opportunities for Cyber Defense in NAParticipate in client facing engagements for key Resources clients


+ Mentor and train junior analysts in cyber threat intelligence and analytic skills
