The role of API Gateway Engineer includes the following responsibilities:



+ Work closely with key users and project teams to
gather requirements, create APIs, mapping, design specifications, data models,
and data flow diagrams to meet business needs


+ Lead the architecture and enabling technologies
strategy for data enablement for the organization. Focus on API Management to
enable the digital strategy.


+ Lead the technical planning and requirements
gathering phases to estimate, develop, test, manage projects, architect and
deliver cutting-edge solutions.


+ Identify emerging information technologies to be
assimilated, integrated and introduced within the client environment







Basic Skills & Qualifications:





+ Minimum of Bachelors degree required (in
Computer Science, Information Systems or related field


+ Minimum of 10 years of progressive
experience in distributed application and integration design, culminating with
technical leadership responsibilities implementing APIs


+ Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience
with Google APIGEE


+ Expertise in the development of scalable
enterprise applications using Java, Spring Framework, JSON, REST , XML, WSDL
and micro-services.


+ Minimum of 5 years of Working knowledge of
service orchestration and messaging technologies. Ability to apply the
long-term (big picture) perspective to tactical situations


+ Design and develop REST APIs using API
Management platform. Create REST API documentation.


+ Implement requirements of the API layer like
security, custom analytics, throttling, caching, logging, monetization, request
and response modifications etc. using API management platform


+ Convert web services from SOAP to REST or
vice-versa, using API management
platform.


+ Create custom policies in Java, JavaScript, Node
JS, Python etc. in API management platform.


+ Build and create shared flows for Error
Handling, Security and other scenarios as deemed necessary.


+ Strong understanding of OWASP, SAML, Oauth SSL
and other security tools, technologies and guidelines.


+ Design and develop API platform to connect to
various disparate backend systems for seamless data exchange.


+ Standardize the CI/CD setup for API management tools
and automated deployment.


+ Automation of API testing.


+ Experience with Swagger Editor and YAML






Preferred Skills & Qualifications:




+ Minimum 3 years of experience with Amazon API
Management, Microsoft Azure AP Management or other API Management Tools.


+ Entrepreneurial/Innovative leader of business
transformation efforts and track record of successful change management.


+ Strong hands on experience with one of the
programming languages like Java, Python, NodeJS.


+ Skilled problem solver with the desire and
proven ability to create innovative solutions.


+ Knowledge and experience in developing software
using Agile and DevSecOps practices.


+ Proficient in authoring, editing and presenting
technical documents.


+ Powerful and prolific written and verbal
communicator.





An active security clearance or the ability to obtain one may be required for
this role.
