The duties of a the Technical Writer will include:








+ Write and edit documentation such as cyber security policies, standards/guidelines, standard operating procedures/process documents, and other related security documentation


+ Review and revise documentation relative to security controls assessments and risk and vulnerability assessments to include security assessment plans and security assessment reports


+ Perform quality assurance on security assessment plans and reports and other related deliverables before delivery to the client


+ Evaluate documentation for readability and usability


+ Maintain records and files of work and revisions


+ Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology


+ Create and utilize data flows, diagrams, and charts to illustrate content


+ Demonstrate expertise in page design and layout


+ Interview technical team members for documentation content and to become familiar with cyber security policies and federal guidance, security assessments, risk and vulnerability assessments


+ Create and maintain documentation templates as necessary











Basic Skills & Qualifications:




+ Minimum of three (3) years of experience in in the preparation and writing of complex technical documents


+ Minimum of two (2) years of experience specializing in IT technical writing


+ Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical and cyber concepts clearly


+ Advanced Microsoft Excel and Access skills to perform extensive data mining, correlation, and reporting


+ Must live in the Washington, DC metro area and be able to commute to the customer site as needed (some remote work is acceptable)


+ Experience working with NIST SP 800-53, RMF, FISMA controls as well as with DHS and DoD policies


+ Experience working in a Cyber Security environment


+ Ability to read security documentation and pull relevant security control information


+ Must possess a high-quality work ethic with a strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently to get work done on time


Preferred Skills & Qualifications:


+ At least one active certification: A+, Network+, Security+ or ISC2 CISSP or other comparable certification which must be approved in advance by the Government PM



An active security clearance or the ability to obtain one may be required for
this role.
