This position is in the Client & Market career track within Accentures global Accelerated Life Sciences Solutions (ALSS) Research & Development (R&D) Technology Consulting Practice. Our R&D business provides innovative solutions that help pharmaceutical companies focus on the science of getting new products to patients faster - across research, clinical, regulatory, pharmacovigilance and medical affairs. We help our clients with their priorities:

Job Description
R&D Consulting professionals work closely with our clients to design, build and implement strategies that can help enhance business performance, which requires our people to understand how business, technology and operations intersect. Our deep understanding of our clients industry and our global perspective on progressive business ideas and emerging technologies enables us to drive and deliver transformational change.

In your new role, you will provide proprietary software assets and industry best practices to deliver best-in-class R&D services to our clients as well as help them to develop business process innovations. With a focus on technology consulting, you will play a leading role in helping clients become high-performance R&D organizations by bringing industry leading solutions from all our 5 business services. Solutions will span domain areas including research, clinical, regulatory, pharmacovigilance, medical affairs, and patient service process and technologies of research & development of pharmaceuticals and medical products. Example projects include delivering on the design and implementation of technologies used to discover and develop compounds and devices (reporting and analytical tools, EDC, CTMS, eTMF, RIM, etc.), post-merger organizational and technology rationalization, and R&D operating model design and optimization.

The Pharma R&D Technology Consulting Senior Manager will be responsible for architecting and leading programs and project activities, often including those of clients and vendors. These responsibilities include technology advisory, solutioning, program and project management, scope, issues and risks management and budgeting. The Senior Manager is the Accenture party responsible for leading teams to deliver solutions to our clients and is usually accountable for delivering on project financials according to Accenture expectations. Additional responsibilities will include developing Accenture Consultants and Analysts, identifying and developing future business opportunities, helping manage client relationships and accounts, and contributing to the development of Accenture's Applied Life Sciences Solutions R&D Technology Consulting Practice by taking on a practice development role.
Typically, our Senior Managers work at client sites, which requires travel. This position may require up to 75% travel (Monday through Thursday), depending on your location and specific project responsibilities.

A professional at this position level within Accenture has responsibilities for the following activities:
Providing strong R&D functional knowledge and expertise to team members
Providing technology solutions to complex business problems within an area of responsibility, where analysis of situations and/ or data requires in-depth R&D industry knowledge and an understanding of an organizations objectives
Leading teams (managers, consultants, analysts) on client engagements, with accountability for (1) correct focus and alignment to client expectations, (2) on-time completion of the work, and (3) a work product meeting or exceeding the highest quality standards
Using research and professional experience to develop innovative thought leadership and points of view, and to contribute relevant industry insights to project teams and clients
Leading teams in the design, development and implementation of technology solution, (e.g., business objectives, requirements, functional design, validation, deployment, business processes, support and scalability)
Defining the strategic direction of a project team aligned to client interests and expectations, working with the team manager to communicate and execute that strategic direction effectively within the project team
Interacting with senior management at a client and/ or within Accenture, which may involve negotiating or influencing on matters of significant importance
Using latitude in decision making and judgment to determine solutions to day-to-day and project challenges
Managing large teams and/ or work efforts (if in an individual contributor role) at a client or within Accenture
Contributing to the growth of the R&D Consulting Practice by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, leading proposals, presentations, recruiting activities, and by coaching and mentoring managers, consultants, analysts

Basic Qualifications

Bachelors degree
7+ years of consulting experience in an IT/systems development environment
7+ years of experience with R&D technology to support clinical development and operations, regulatory intelligence and operations, pharmacovigilance and medical affairs. Experience in relevant applications in an implementation or support capacity may include Clinical Supply Chain, EDC, CTMS, Data Management tools, IV/WRS, Data Warehouses, Safety databases, Regulatory Information Management, Medical Information and Complaint systems or processes.

7+ years of proven experience managing a programs and teams of multiple direct reports, clients and vendors using your exceptional team building, mentoring, people development and management skills
7+ years of experience working with Life Sciences R&D executives applying excellent client-facing communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
7+ years of experience managing client and vendor relationships with the ability to identify and articulate the value of new business and value prop of new technologies as it pertains to R&D use cases
7+ years of experience owning a defined portion of a consulting or customer facing program and a demonstrated ability to manage issues and risks, with an understanding of appropriate and timely escalation.
7+ years of supervisory and people development experience
Professional Skill Requirements

Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment, applying research and analysis skills as well as diagnosis skills
Proven success contributing to a team-oriented environment as well as demonstrated leadership and collaboration in professional setting; either military or civilian
Desire to work in an information systems environment
Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
Excellent leadership and management skills. Proven ability to build, manage and foster a team-oriented environment

Preferred Skills
Understanding of key Pharmaceutical R&D processes and technologies. Familiarity with industry-standards such as CFR 21 Part 11, GxP and validated systems lifecycles.
Experience with the software development lifecycle, specifically in a validated environment.
Experience working with executives in Life Sciences R&D, with network of existing clients
