Role Summary: Responsible for defining and implementing quality engineering strategies that support rapid application development. Focus on all layers of the application stack, applying knowledge of technology and software engineering practices to drive automation adoption within the appropriate phases of the software development lifecycle.







Responsibilities:





+ Works with the team to understand the change (user stories), determine its weightage for velocity, and translate them into test scenarios/cases ensuring adequate testing coverage (including performance) for the PSI (potential shippable increment).



+ Integrate automation tests with pipeline solutions (e.g., Jenkins, TFS, TeamCity)







+ Execute manual test cases, document test results along with the data used for testing.



+ Works directly with Automation Manager/lead and automation team during planning and execution



+ Create in-sprint automated scripts, along with supporting data and environment configurations to meet targets, following established standards for creation, storage, and version control.



+ Develop deep expertise in the application(s) assigned for automation, and apply that knowledge in developing more effective automation solutions and troubleshooting issues that arise.



+ Execute automation scripts, as required.



+ Proactively inform the scum master of any challenges that could impact the delivery of test automation.



+ Participate in code reviews of automated scripts and supporting components / data / configuration.



+ Resolve test automation script / framework defects & implement change requests



+ Participate in test automation tools, methodology & best practices training



+ Provide input into making the defect, metric or communication process more efficient and beneficial to the program.







Required skills:





+ 2 years experience in Test Automation including planning, script development & maintenance



+ Minimum of 2 years demonstrated experience in one or more of the following testing toolsets/frameworks: Selenium WebDriver, Cucumber/Gherkin, Geb / Spock, SauceLabs



+ Development experience in one or more of the common development stacks (Java/J2EE, .NET/C#, Modern Web), and supporting unit test frameworks.



+ Experience working with industry standard IDEs (e.g. Eclipse, IntelliJ, Visual Studio)



+ Experience working with databases and writing complex SQL queries



+ Demonstrated experience with Continuous Integration, including two or more of the common build/deploy/version control tools.









Nice-to-have skills:





+ Demonstrated understanding of application architectures (micro services vs monolythic)



+ Demonstrated experience using TDD or BDD



+ Demonstrated experience with virtualization using CA DevTest/Lisa, IBM RTVS, or Parasoft Virtualize



+ Demonstrated experience with Nexus or Artifactory



+ Demonstrated experience with Chef, Puppet, or Ansible
